  The Big Table is one of the leading independent restaurant companies in the UK. We operate some of the most recognisable and loved restaurant brands to be found anywhere in the eating-out market, such as Bella Italia, Café Rouge and Las Iguanas.

We operate over 150 restaurant sites in a variety of locations including leisure parks, shopping centres and high streets. We are a national business, with restaurants located across the country, from Inverness to Torquay, employing thousands of people and serving millions of meals each year.

Alan Morgan

Officer

Alan Morgan, previously CEO of GLH Hotels, joined us as CEO on Tuesday 6th April. Alan brings with him a wealth of leadership experience gained across the hotel, leisure and hospitality industries.

Whilst at GLH he was responsible for all the departmental functions and setting the strategic agenda that will ensure future growth. Previous to GLH Alan was Managing Director of Rank PLC where he led the transformation of the retail business.
Adrian Walker

Adrian Walker

Originally from Australia, Adrian’s first role was with KPMG. He subsequently held a number of roles in a range of multi-site leisure businesses including Odeon Cinemas, Virgin Active Health Clubs and Vodafone stores.

More recently Adrian was CFO of Pizza Hut Restaurants and was part of the team that delivered the turnaround of the business and an exit for Rutland Partners at four times their investment.

Adrian joined the Big Table team in November 2019.
Mike Tye

Mike Tye

Chairman

Mike has more than 30 years’ board and leadership experience in the UK restaurant and eating-out market. He is currently also chairman of private equity-backed Moto Hospitality, and of privately-owned Haulfryn Group and vice-chairman of Prostate Cancer UK.

He is former CEO of Spirit Group and recently stepped down as a non-executive director of The Restaurant Group PLC. Additionally, he has led Costa Coffee, David Lloyd Leisure and Premier Travel Inn.
Julie McEwan

Julie McEwan

Las Iguanas

Julie leads the Las Iguanas brand, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge from former roles.

Her previous experience includes leading the Flaming Grill brand and managing the conversion programme in Spirit, which saw the estate successfully grow from 84 to 146 sites in 18 months.

Julie started her career at Whitbread as a Brewers Fayre General Manager, and then works in Premier Inn as an Operations Manager for a number of years.
Lisa Gibbons

Bella Italia

Lisa has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Her career began at Mitchells and Butlers, where she worked in various operational roles.

She joined the Café Rouge brand in The Big Table Group in 2011 as an Operations Manager, before being promoted to Senior Operations Manager.

She moved to the Bella Italia brand as Operations Director in 2016, and was appointed Brand Director in 2019.

Steve Worrall, previously MD of Pubs, Inns & Hotels at St Austell Brewery, joined us as Brand Director of Café Rouge & The Mulberry on Monday 24th May 2021.

Steve brings with him over 25 years of hospitality sector experience including leadership roles across brand management, operations, marketing, commercial and estate management.
Lloyd Bloom

Concessions & Franchising

Lloyd has over 20 years’ experience in the Hospitality industry. His career began in high end London hotels before he joined the Big Table Group in 2000.

He has held several senior positions and managed over 15 different brands. He specialises in Concessions and Franchising as well as operation management contracts.

His responsibilities include overseeing The Big Table Group's restaurants in holiday park destinations, such as Center Parcs and International Franchises, including operations in Ireland, Gibraltar, India and the Middle East.
Greg Gibbons

Director

Greg began his career as a Graduate Management Trainee with Asda, before moving from retail to hospitality.

He spent over 15 years with Mitchells and Butlers in various operations and central roles across multiple brands, before becoming Head of Bar Operations in Bourne Leisure.

Greg then took on various senior roles in Greene King before joining The Big Table Group. He was Brand Director of Café Rouge from 2019, before becoming Operations Support Director for The Big Table Group in 2021.
Sarah Pope

Sarah Pope

Chief Information
Officer

Sarah oversees all Information Technology areas for the group, with a focus on digital advancements, data and improving technical services and process efficiencies.

Sarah joined the group in June 2019 with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, having previously worked with hotel brands such as Ramada Jarvis, Mercure, Thistle, Amba and the launch of the Hard Rock Hotel London. Sarah also worked in British Tennis, leading the Technology roadmap for the Lawn Tennis Association and helped drive the digital agenda in a multifaceted sports consumer organisation.
Claire Clarke

Claire Clarke

Director

Claire is responsible for all HR matters across the Group, providing strategic direction in key areas such as the impact of Brexit, government regulation and matters affecting the employee brand.

Previously People Director for the Concessions and Franchising division within The Big Table Group, Claire started her career in Whitbread PLC and was one of the founding members of HR in Tragus Group Ltd (the founding company of the business).
Matthew Ainger

Matthew Ainger

Group Property
Director

Matt is a chartered surveyor with over 20 years-experience in the leisure and hospitality industry.

He began his career at Scottish & Newcastle plc before taking up senior roles in portfolio management at Spirit Group and Punch Taverns, with responsibility for over 500 sites in London and the south-east before joining the The Big Table Group in 2008 to head up the estates team.

His role covers property acquisitions for all brands, together with development, facilities management and estate management responsibilities.
Simon Galkoff

Simon Galkoff

Group Procurement
Director

Simon oversees Procurement, Supply Chain and Food Technology across all The Big Table Group's brands.

He previously worked in the Supermarket, Oil & Gas and Foodservice industry, with experience in Operations, Marketing, Buying, Category Management, Quality & Innovation and Strategy.

Prior to joining The Big Table Group he held a number of senior management roles at Sainsbury’s, BP International, Whitbread and Morrisons.

Simon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
